Verizon Takes Internet Speed to Over 10Gbps with FiOS

If you belong to the U.S., there’s some good news with regard to enhancements in Fiber Network infrastructure for you. Nation’s largest wireless and wired network service provider, Verizon has recently come up with some remarkable test results in delivering internet speeds through its very own Fiber Networking solution, FiOS.

While conducting the tests, Verizon managed two data communication ports to simultaneously provide transmission speeds of close to 1 Gbps to each of two PCs inside the home. Combined, the two ports delivered approximately 1.85 Gbps in aggregate bandwidth in each direction.

Verizon did clarify that the ultra speed achieved during the tests is not going to be made available to consumers right away. It is rather an indication of what Verizon can facilitate for catering to the future needs of consumer demand, which isn’t looking to stop anytime soon.

Currently, Verizon is facilitating upto 7.1Mbps of internet bandwidth to its consumers and with FiOS, the speed can reach upto 50Mbps, which, according to Verizon, caters to most of the current needs of consumers.

With recent testing of Fiber networks going into Gigabits, Verizon’s idea is to build strong capacity for overall delivery system and prepare itself for near-future demand.
