Over 600 Communities & 1,90,000 People Are Desperate for Google Fiber. Which City Will Be Lucky Enough ?

As there are just limited hours left before Google shuts down doors for community nominations and individual requests for bringing Google Fiber to one(or more) city, there’s been an update on Google blog regarding couple of updates and steps that will be taken up next by Google Fiber team.

Talking about the response to Google Fiber experimental project, there’s been over 600 communities from all across United States and nearly 190000 individuals as well which showed an immediate interest in Google Fiber to be setup in their home city.

Clarifying about the selection process, Google Fiber team will evaluate the nominations in details, make site visits, talk with local officials, review the feasibility conditions and would eventually come out with their final result of the chosen city or cities by the end of the year.

In their own words

We’ll be conducting site visits, meeting with local officials and consulting with third-party organizations. Based on a rigorous review of the data, we will announce our target community or communities by the end of the year.

So which city is going to be the Google Fiber City ? Which city will rather be known as Next Generation City ?

Duluth, Topeka, Sarasota or Asheville ??

For now, we will have to wait for a while and soon, we will be able to estimate where the things will be moving. We will keep you updated !

I’m hoping the location of Bellingham WA makes it an ideal hub between Seattle WA and Vancouver B.C. – with the relative low cost of living and its beautiful location: it would spark start-ups for generations.
