Breaking: 16% of US Homes can opt for Fiber-to-the-Home Service, Right Now!
TweetWe have been constantly hearing about High speed Fiber Optic networks and FTTH services, which are going to provide lightning fast internet speeds in near future to end consumers, (‘Google Fiber’ included) but take this shocking fact now !
16% of all US Homes can get Fiber-to-the-home(FTTH) service, right now !
According to a latest study by FTTH Council related to FTTH networks, nearly 18 million US homes(around 16% of total US population) are already covered under the existing web of Fiber-to-the-Home network across the US. Fiber-to-the-Home networks have grown at a staggering growth rate of over 250%, year after year, in the past 7 years and that has led to a large span of area covered by FTTH networks in the US.
After hearing this news, one might be puzzled over why high speed FTTH networks are still not prevalent and widely adopted by the consumers in US. As the facts suggest, only one-third of US homes, that lie within the reach of existing Fiber networks, have actually opted for it.
The adoption rate of smaller service providers, which are in excess of 750 or so across the US, is far better than big industry names in FTTH landscape such as Verizon FiOS, which accounts for a major chunk of current Fiber establishment across US.
One of the main reasons for poor adoption of FTTH services within existing Fiber networks could be high monthly rentals and less-than-promised service delivery of small-scale service providers.

most broadband services are crappy, they can’t maintain high data transfer rates *.,
