Fiber Optics is the concept behind majority of high-speed digital communication that we have today. Fiber Optics communication is the basic underlying concept behind majority of digital transfer of information across the globe.
Fiber Optics communication is extremely fast and lossless because Fiber Optics communication is based on light travelling through ultra-thin fiber cables without any significant loss, following the principle of Total Internal Reflection and taking bits of information along with it.
Further details about Fiber Optics communication are mentioned here.

Asheville has been a haven for artists, writers, poets, architects, designers, doctors and healers. From names like Albert Einstein to Buckminster Fuller and Carl Sandberg, this area has always attracted the free thinkers and geniuses of the times. IMAGINE what the current minds could create and share with the World with access to Google Fiber!
Bring the new Renaissance and vote for Asheville, NC!

Asheville is unique in its being a microcosm for the US in specific and even the world in more general terms. AVL fully represents all there is in technology AND the arts. It is vastly deserving of Google fiber.

Please add Petaluma,Ca. We are very much in the running. We have Leo LaPorte who hosts an international web show called This Week in Google, very well-known tech expert. We’re near Google in the bay area. We are the birthplace of telecomm. Our demographic is perfect for Google too.
Thanks!

Bring Google to Asheville……we are diverse and concentrated and people want to live here. Many more talented folks would come here if we became a fiber mecca.

Where is Huntsville, Alabama? We are an IDEAL city for this initiative, had a government and public response and have a huge amount of public support for the Google Fiber project.
